Message to School and School Systems

School administration, parents, and teachers are always striving to provide students with a broad based portfolio of life skills to arm them for their post-school journey. In today’s environment, providing perceived value in a cost effective way is more challenging than ever. And no department is more scrutinized for delivering a foundation for life for all students with minimal investment than the Physical Education program.

Too often only a few middle or high school students perceive themselves as athletic. The majority do not relate to the activity in Physical Education class, believing they are too old to learn a new sport, or that the activities they are offered at school do not relate to the rest of their life.

The ISGA School Golf Program is an extremely cost-effective way to energize students and excite teachers and parents. Students learn from their first day of exposure to golf that:

  • Golf is a sport they can play for the rest of their life.
  • Middle and High School is a perfect time to learn the sport. Some of golf’s greatest golfers did not learn golf until their college years.
  • Golf can be played by students of any athletic ability, any size, any gender, and many disabilities.
  • Walking a round of golf is walking 5-6 miles.
  • Golf can be very affordable! And we educate the students and parents as to the ways to make golf affordable.
  • Golf can be a social and business asset.

Parents have no trouble understanding the value of an introduction to golf at no cost to them. The ISGA, through its communications and web site, assists parents and students to understand the many ways to make golf very affordable. In fact, parents believe an understanding of golf is one of the real assets their child takes with him/her upon graduation.
The ISGA program was developed in accordance with NASPE standards, and can be taught by the very same teachers that oversee the Physical Education programs you offer today. The curriculum provides for a daily video instruction for the teachers as well as the students. The program is very safe, and the cost per student is minimal. The ISGA also has ideas for raising the initial investment required for the program.

Importantly, the ISGA builds a link between your students and the local golf facilities and golf professionals. Creating active students requires all of us to reach outside of the walls of the schools.
Please contact the ISGA to learn more about this opportunity for your school or school system.
Let’s get more of your students active for life.
